There are great travel assignments available all across the country for L&D RN's. Labor and Delivery nurses are one of the most sought-after travelers in the booming travel industry.
If you are an experienced L&D RN you know that there is really never a typical day when it comes to assisting women in labor and childbirth. The women must be educated, supported and assisted during all four stages of the delivery. Each day has its challenges and its rewards, as is the case with most jobs in this field.
When you are working in the Labor and Delivery department obviously the hours are 24/7/365. Nobody knows when the excitement will begin….or end. Weekends, holidays, nights, are all part of the schedule for the L&D RN. Interruptions are frequent and the RN must maintain accuracy and have good coping skills as well as the ability to think on your feet and think fast. Things can change quickly during the birthing process. And, of course, lots of time on your feet as you have to keep checking on patients, walking, stretching, standing and bending.
Educating the mother as well as her support team is a big part of this process as well so good communication skills are a must. Teamwork is required as well so the ability to work well with others is very important too.
Is it time to start your travel career in this new year?
