Remember The Alamo, it's in San Antonio, right downtown in the center of everything. The day I went there it was packed but I walked around outside and read the history. It was very interesting. Downtown San Antonio is a beautiful metro area and home to the famous River Walk as well where you can cruise through the area in a little boat and check out all the shops, restaurants, boutiques and entertainment. There are four missions along the Mission Trail including the Alamo and all are listed as UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Home to world class museums you can find the San Antonio Museum of Art, the McNay Art Museum, The Witte Museum and the Briscoe Western Art Museum located in San Antonio. San Antonio's rich history is explored in the South Texas Heritage Center at the Witte Museum and it overlooks the San Antonio River and has many fascinating displays.
There are many major facilities in need of travel nurses and healthcare professionals. Some of the top facilities in the area are the University Hospital, the Baptist Medical Center, Christus Santa Rosa Medical Center, Foundation Surgical Hospital of San Antonio, South Texas Spine and Surgical Hospital and that's just to name a few. Travel nurses are needed in San Antonio in many specialties today!
San Antonio is located in the center of the San Antonio-New Braunfels Metropolitan Area and is commonly referred to as Greater San Antonio. As of 2015 this metro area had a population of over 2.4 million making it the 25th largest metropolitan area in the US. San Antonio was named for Saint Anthony of Padua. There is a Sea World San Antonio and a Six Flags Fiesta Texas theme park here for your exploration as well.
The weather in San Antonio is hot in the summer, comfortably warm or mild winters subject to descending northern cold fronts in the winter with cool to cold nights, and warm and rainy in the spring and fall. There may be a dozen nights below freezing annually and snow is very rare.
San Antonio is just another beautiful city in the southern US waiting for the travel nurse to come explore and visit. So much fun stuff to do and see and so little time…..is it time to start your San Antonio adventure?
