The Florida Keys are a string of tropical islands at the bottom of Florida which stretch about 120 miles from the southern tip, between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean. Key West is a great destination for boating, scuba diving, fishing and lots of local flair and laid back vibes. Key West is home to Duval Street, known for its many bars and the nightly Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square among many other things.
The Florida Keys are a fisherman's dream. There are more species of fish here than anywhere else in the Atlantic. The Gulf Stream, with its warm current, runs just off the coast of the Florida keys and creates a path for fish migrations. Different fish are coming through at different times of year and the local fishermen are full of all kinds of great information with lots of fishing boats available for daily excursions.
The clear blue waters around the Florida Keys and Key West provide scuba diving, snorkeling, sailing and any other water related activities as well. The Florida Keys are one of the world's most popular vacation destinations. Scuba divers come from all over the world to enjoy the Florida Keys reef system. It is the only living coral barrier reef in North American and the 3rd largest coral reef in the world.
So, of course, I can go on and on about the beautiful Florida Keys. I was just down there in February of this year and it was just as beautiful as I remember. The water is so much prettier in the keys too. I can't wait to go back again.
