So….New York City for a visit?

So….New York City for a visit?

How about spending some time in the Big Apple, where the Hudson River meets the Atlantic Ocean? As a healthcare traveler, you have the option to spend a lot more time than most people who are merely visiting. You would have the opportunity to explore the many and varied things that New York City offers during a travel nursing assignment here.

More than 8 million people live in the five boroughs that make up Greater New York, Manhattan, Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island.More than a third of these New Yorkers were not born here in the US. New York City is still the cultural capital of the US due to its diversity and the vibrant intellectual life. Just a few of the many great sights to see would be: The Empire State Building, Broadway, Times Square, the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, Grand Central Terminal, Metropolitan Art Museum, Central Park, and of course I could go on and on. And that's just in New York City. If you are spending more time you may even venture out into the beautiful "upstate" area of New York as well.

New York City, which was then Manhattan, expanded to include the other four boroughs, Queens, the Bronx, Staten Island and Brooklyn, in 1898 and went from an area of 60 square miles to an area of over 360 square miles and was known as "Greater New York".

Central Park consists of 843 acres of green space in the middle of the city and draws millions of visitors to its skyscraper-bordered vistas in all the season, from sunbathers in the summer to ice skaters in the winter. Central park is also home to Shakespeare in the Park and the New York Philharmonic's annual open air performance.

The High Line in Manhattan is New York City's only elevated park and one of the most popular destinations. The High Line was made from a rail track that went out of service in the 80's. The city turned it into a 1.45 mile long green space that runs from Hudson Yards to the northern edge of Chelsea. Now it is planted with grasses and wildflowers and offers walkers some great views.

The Theatre District in New York City is world renowned with over 13 million locals and tourists taking in a Broadway show at one of the more than 40 theaters. A new wave of plays, revivals and megamusicals brings in each new season.

There is so much to see and do in New York City alone, not to mention the rest of this beautiful state, that we haven't even scratched the surface. Of course, there are plenty of medical facilities in this area that are always in need of healthcare travelers, locum tenens personnel, travel RN's and Allied professionals.
