"Am I ready to go?" – this is the big question that must be answered before you launch your traveling nursing career. Here are some signs that it is time to GO!
- 1.Have you interviewed? If you have or are planning on it, you are not "exploring or testing the waters", you are ready to GO and, in my book, you have already left and now just need to find the next one.
- 2.Does your employer "make stupid rules"? This is a viewpoint from someone looking from OUT-to-IN. Employees wanting to stay with their employer usually view "stupid rules" as something that will be endured and made right later. You are ready to GO!
- 3.Are you weighing whether your employer "treats everyone equally", "judges performance with the same standard for the same job" or "fails to recognize achievement", you are in the process of lining up the factors for a decision but truly, you are ready to GO!
- 4.Does your employer "not care about people", "not share the big picture/vision" and "not make things fun anymore"? You have now seen enough incidents of where they don't care, don't share and don't make things fun. You are ready to GO!
So, you are ready to GO! Yes, you will be anxious about change but travel nursing is a very viable career path. The nice thing about travel nursing – you can try it and go back to staff nursing whenever you are ready to GO again!
