*Author's Note: We want you to know because we care.
The Childish Email Account: Take it from a professional recruiter – no one wants to write to
Poor Grammar or Typos: Once again, the language and words you choose are a reflection on YOU. Typos are misspellings and no one wants to be a bad spelllur (as an example).
Photos or Other Graphics: Not only do you want your resume to be limited to one page with your relevant experience AND an accurate description of your employment for the past seven years, no one wants your picture and any flower graphics and it must be UNDER 1 MB in file size so it does not upset spam/junk or other email protection software.
Long Job Descriptions: Please tell the reader what your function was and what department. It slows down the process to tell the reader that you "cared, advocated and provided valuable oversight in the field of patient care in several areas of the hospital" rather than "ICU nurse providing bedside care to 3-4 patients full-time".
Age Identifiers: Number one on the list – graduation year. This is a difficult one because we want to provide full disclosure and it is pretty impressive to have a college degree nowadays but tell them during the interview if asked. For example, list "BSN – BigIvyLeagueCollege, Beantown, MA" and leave it at that.
We will have more for you in another blog but these are a great start. Happy Traveling!
