With the return of all things Star Wars this year and the release of The Force Awakens, I got to thinking … Travel Nurses sure are a lot like Jedi Masters. Of course, nurses always use the force for good!
As the holidays approach and folks across the globe prepare to "unwrap" the first Star Wars movie in a decade, here are 4 ways Travel Nurses are like Jedi Masters:
Good Energy
Jedis have their lightsabers and Jedi mind tricks, while nurses use their hearts, minds, and hands to bring positive, healing energy to patients and families in need. For many patients, it can be a nurse's care and good energy that really helps them recover both physically and mentally.
Sense of Adventure
Just like Jedi Masters travel the galaxy to seek peace and justice for all, Travel Nurses trek far and wide to provide comfort and peace for their patients. While on assignment, who knows what kind of cantinas, deserts, forests, and more you may find! A new location can sometimes seem like a whole new planet — filled with exciting new places for adventurous Travelers to explore.
Determination and Resilience
Like Jedi Masters, Travel Nurses are true warriors. All nurses have determination and resilience, no doubt. But Travel Nurses develop extra determination and resilience, while navigating new hospitals and cities, all while doing one of the most stressful, undervalued jobs around. It takes a lot of guts and flexibility to leave your home and maintain professionalism while facing so much change!
Service to Others
Of course we all know that nurses serve others like no other, so to speak. According to Wikipedia, "By serving others, the Jedi give of themselves through acts of charity, citizenship, volunteerism, and good deeds." Sounds just like so many of the giving, compassionate Travel Nurses I know! That's because Travel Nurses are all about serving others — whether sick patients, understaffed facilities, or exhausted colleagues.
